Intended Learning Outcomes

How to Give Ongoing and Discharge Care (Secondary Prevention) and Evaluate Outcome

  1. Recognize the burden of ischemic heart disease.
  2. Identify known cardiovascular (CV) risk factors for recurrent cardiovascular event and apply a tool for global CV risk assessment.
  3. Evaluate the risk of CV complications in a patient with and without cardiovascular disease.
  4. Define the Secondary Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation programs for preventing a new coronary event.
  5. Identify risk reduction strategies, and understand the role of various interventions to prevent CV heart disease in the population including medication and those involving lifestyle behavioural changes.
  6. Design an appropriate and customized rehabilitation and secondary prevention plan for patients with risk variables recognised in secondary prevention for preventing a new coronary event.
  7. Identify the patient’s needs and recognize factors affecting patient adherence to medication regimen and lifestyle and intervention strategies to maintain secondary prevention program adherence on practice to avoid the risk of recurrent of myocardial infarction.
